This picture is a few years old, but you see one of these assholes doing this everyday.
New rule: you can’t give someone a parking ticket if you’re not parked legally.

I dunno man....this smacks of “if a cop has to speed to pull you over, they can’t ticket you for speeding” kind of reasoning.

Well, if a city worker can block off a lane to water the hanging baskets, I can double park to grab my dry cleaning . Same thing, man, same thing.

I hear what you’re saying. However, there are numerous alternatives to driving around while you look for illegally parked cars. Parking enforcement could patrol exclusively by foot and not exacerbate the problem of illegally parked cars. They also have the option to do what everyone else does and that is, drive around for 10 minutes looking for somewhere to park. If the person leaves in that time, maybe they really were “just running in for a minute” and it wasn’t a big deal.
Also, in general speeding is a whole lot more dangerous than parking illegally and there’s a compelling reason that a cop (trained in high speed driving) may have to exceed the speed limit to catch someone speeding.
The thing that really burns my ass is when there is a legal spot in the immediate vicinity and they can’t be bothered to use it.
And what kind of monster are you that you’re defending parking enforcement?
